In a statement released to the press before the French Grand Prix,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.grandprixhistory.org\/bugatti_bio.htm\">Ettore Bugatti<\/a>\u00a0stated\u00a0<em>\u201cthe more closely a vehicle approaches the ground, the less will be it\u2019s resistance to forward motion.<\/em>\u201d While being low to the ground the shape over the top surface was similar to that of a wing and flat
