Bidders at the recent Mecum Dallas 2017 classic- and collector-car auction held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center honed in on the 10 impressive private collections that crossed the auction block there. The interest in the collections made for intense bidding, which aided the auction\u2019s overall sales total of more than $22.2 million. In four days of auction, 610 of the 865 vehicles offered were hammered sold, an excellent 70-percent sell-through rate.<\/p>\n

The main attractions were the Bruce Church<\/a> and Kingston<\/a> collections, and they certainly lived up to their billing with impressive sales across the board. Four of the Church cars landed among the top 10 sales, and in all, the collection brought in more than $2.4 million with 97 percent of the vehicles in the 33-car collection finding new owners. The Kingston Collection of 19 cars at no reserve also did exceedingly well, led by the 1970 Plymouth Superbird<\/a> being the fourth-highest seller at $215,000. The auction\u2019s top seller was a 2006 Ford GT<\/a> (above, photo courtesy of Mecum Auctions) that brought in $270,000.<\/p>\n
