Gooding & Company @ Amelia<\/h1>\n

On March 12th, Gooding & Company held an inaugural auction to coincide with the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. Preferring quality over quantity, they offered 71 exquisite cars including last year’s ‘Best of Show’, a 1931 Voisin. This imposing car fetched a record price of $2,750,000 USD and it contributed to a total of $16.1 million in sales.<\/p>\n

Legendary driver Stirling Moss was a winner at the event. He purchased a very rare Porsche RS61 Spyder for $1,705,000. That’s not a lot of car for this kind of money, but the RS61 was the ultimate Porsche spyder of its era. Sir Stirling said \u201cI have long sought after a Porsche RS and had my eye on that Porsche RS 61 for several weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some very original cars were also offered by Gooding & Company including an unrestored AC-Brisol Ace which sold for $280,000. Also included was a Jaguar E-Type with only 15,000 original miles and a Ferrari 500 Superfast that was once part of Mas du Clos.
