This year was particularly fruitful since many companies debuted production supercars that were planned far in advance of the recession. Of these, the Lexus LFA is currently at the top of our list as it redefines the brand and offers exceptionally elegant design.<\/p>\n<p>Since almost all concept cars from 2009 focus on electric propulsion and compact construction, there are only two on the list. Until batteries can harness as much power as gasoline, the electric supercar is still a product of the future. Without further ado, we present the top 10 supercar releases of 2009 with a single honorable mention for Devon.<\/p>\n<p>As always our top 10 supercar list is never actually ten cars (it is 17 this year) because we always get carried away. It is also never really just production ready supercars and includes concepts, one-offs and coach-built cars, again because we just get super excited. Period.&nbsp;<\/h3>\n<p>Continuing the stepwise evolution of Ferrari\u2019s mid-engine supercar, the 458 introduces several key features into the model range including a 570 bhp direct injection engine and a dual-clutch 7-speed transmission. Furthermore, the shape of the car has been heavily reworked by Pininfarina including an elegant new interior. The car\u2019s name comes from its 4.5-liter, 8-cylinder engine which is \u201cthe highest-revving street-legal production V8\u201d. Called the 1LR-GEU, the new V10 has a narrow angle of \u00ba72. To reduce size, the unit has dry-sump lubrication which force feeds oil from a separate reservoir. Lexus says this new engine has the same dimensions as their V6. Furthermore, the aluminum block has a fully integrated crankcase and the intake includes individual throttle bodies. The Revent\u00f3n Roadster is a sports car of breathtaking fascination, menacing power and uncompromising performance. The 6.5 liter twelve-cylinder generates 493 kW (670 PS), catapulting the Roadster from 0 to 100 Km\/h (0 to 62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 330 KM\/h (205 mph).
