Lightweight BMWs<\/h1>\n

Today we look at past and present lightweight BMWs . The most radical of these is the CSL<\/a> BMW Motorsport prepared for American IMSA races. We are fortunate to have some period photographs of it, including the 1976 Daytona Winner, from photographer Lou Galanos.<\/p>\n

We mention this model because BMW recently released their own tribute car<\/a> to the CSL by modifying a current generation BMW M5. Although just a concept, the livery clearly pays tribute to the 1975 cars.<\/p>\n

Even more recently BMW announced their M3 GTR<\/a>. It’s a lightweight version that is going to be used to homologate a lightweight M3 on the racetrack. Don’t expect to see these stateside anytime soon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
