\"\"<\/a>Most of us no doubt cherish memories of now-gone racetracks where we once watched racing history being made, or possibly even tried to make some of it ourselves. Now we have more than just our memories to cherish, we have this book. Author Rudow admits in his Preface that it was \u201can ideal project\u201d for him as he had attended races at many of these circuits during his youth, and felt others might also wish to know their stories. He was right.<\/p>\n

The 17 North American circuits he surveyed during a lap of the continent stretch from the Bahamas to British Columbia, from Augusta to Alberta, and from Roosevelt to Riverside, with another 11 worthwhile stops in between. For each venue he tells how it came to be\u2014and, if applicable, what went before\u2014capsulizes the races run there and examines the factors of fate that ultimately brought their demise.<\/p>\n
