Bentley: A Racing History<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s been 55 years since the most recent book on Bentley\u2019s competition exploits was published, so it\u2019s high time for an update, and this book from celebrated author Venables provides a new take on an old subject in honor of the 90th anniversary of the marque\u2019s competition debut.<\/p>\n

Much of the story will no doubt be familiar to followers of our sport, and the author readily acknowledges his debt to those who have told the tale before, but what sets this effort apart is its inclusion of the Bentley competition department\u2019s most recent revival that produced renewed success at Le Mans with GTP class wins in 2001 and 2002 before the marque claimed its sixth overall triumph in 2003.<\/p>\n

Accompanying the words is a superb selection of photographs from both trackside and workshop that illuminate the subject further. Also included are appendices covering the famed \u201cBentley Boys\u201d with individual profiles, the basic specifications of all the cars, a listing of racing successes and records, as well as maps of the circuits where those were achieved. All in all an excellent compendium for anyone with any level of interest in Bentley.<\/p>\n
