The Line of Beauty<\/h2>\n

Many of us believe that the decade of the 1950s was the pinnacle of sports car racing because it was a golden age when the cars being raced on the track were much the same as those being driven on the road. This has not necessarily been the case in subsequent decades as sports car racing veered into the realm of the prototype, but for those who do harbor such a view, this book is one that should appeal to their sensibilities.<\/p>\n

It is a beautifully produced full-color, soft cover presentation of contemporary photographs of period cars that\u2019s billed as \u201can aesthetic appreciation of the sportsracing cars of the 1950s.\u201d Dasenbrock\u2019s photographic essay\u2014text is limited to simple identification tags for the images\u2014reveals the inherent grace of these machines by depicting both complete cars running on the track, and the myriad detail touches that gave them the special character that set them apart from more ordinary automobiles. It\u2019s a book best savored slowly and deliciously, one page at a time.<\/p>\n
