espite slowing sales, Detroit and the surrounding area proved they can still support a leading concours such as the 29th Meadow Brook Concours.<\/p>\n

Held over the weekend, Meadow Brook started with a motoring tour that ended up at the Chrysler museum and some entertaining laps around Chrysler’s proving grounds.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, the Alfa Romeo Owner’s Club (AROC) filled a field with impressive cars, including the three Bertone BATs<\/a>, while RM Auctions staged their annual sale at the same time. A top bid of $810 000 USD predictably went to Marmon’s very last prototype, the HCM V12<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The concours brought together a massive field which was organized by a new executive committee. Focus was on Alfa Romeo and, along with the BATS, many classic 8Cs were present to celebrate the North American debut of the 8C Competizione<\/a>. The organizers made a big deal about the appearance of a Bugatti Type 41 Royale<\/a> and also kept Meadow Brook’s typical emphasis on fashion.<\/p>\n
