More than 13,000 visitors passed through the gates\u00a0on June 1-2 to view an array of significant collector cars at the 24th annual Greenwich\u00a0Concours d’Elegance at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich, Conn. Overlooking\u00a0Greenwich Harbor on Long Island Sound, domestic marques were displayed on\u00a0Saturday, imports on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Celebrating the centennial of the renowned Italian coachbuilder Zagato at this year’s event,\u00a029 Zagato-bodied cars lined up along the waterfront. The Zagato Centennial Awards were\u00a0chosen by Andrea Zagato, the grandson of founder Ugo Zagato, and represented each\u00a0generation of the family: The 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport Testa Fissa owned\u00a0by Lawrence Auriana, the 1958 Jaguar XK140 of Bill Pope, and the 2003 Aston Martin\u00a0DB7 Zagato of Jim Taylor.<\/p>\n

“It was wonderful to have Andrea and Marella Zagato come from Italy to celebrate the Zagato Centennial with us at the Greenwich Concours,” said Concours Chairman Mary Wennerstrom. “Every owner was beyond thrilled to be able to spend time with both Andrea and Marella. I’d like to give a special thank you to Zagato ambassador Mike Odierna for all his help in planning the Zagato celebration at Greenwich.”<\/p>\n

At Saturday’s Concours Americana, the 1938 Packard 1604 Super Eight Mayfair\u00a0Coupe\u00a0of the\u00a0Marano Collection received the American Best in Show-Elegance Award, and the\u00a0American Best in Show-Sport Award went to the 1912 National Speed Car of James\u00a0Grundy.<\/p>\n

The 1939 Indian Chief Motorcycle of Brendon Romcke was named the Most Outstanding\u00a0Motorcycle-American, while the Most Outstanding Motorcycle-International Award was\u00a0claimed by the 1978 Ducati 900 NCR Formula 1 of\u00a0David Miller.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, the International Best in Show-Sport Award went to the 1933 Alfa Romeo 8C\u00a02300 Corto Spider of Scuderia N.E., while the 1936 Delahaye Competition Disappearing\u00a0Top of Ken Smith earned the International Best of Show-Elegance Award.<\/p>\n

The coveted People’s Choice Award-American was presented to owners Sonny and Joan Abagnale for their\u00a01948 Cadillac Series 62 Cabriolet by Saoutchik.\u00a0The 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ\u00a0of\u00a0Lawrence Auriana was the People’s Choice-International winner.<\/p>\n

Michael Arnolt, son of Stanley “Wacky” Arnolt, handed out the trophies for\u00a0the Arnolt winners, which included the 1954 Arnolt-Bristol Bolide Deluxe of\u00a0Alan Rosenblum, winner of the Chairman’s Choice award,\u00a0and the 1954 Arnolt-MG Coupe of David West that won the Spirit of the Hobby trophy. West drove his car from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to be a part of the Arnolt reunion.<\/p>\n

“We were honored to have Michael Arnolt with us for a reunion of the cars\u00a0built by his father. There were 17 Arnolt cars bodied by Bertone on the\u00a0field. I’m very grateful to Michael and to reunion organizer Chuck Schoendorf for all of their\u00a0efforts in coordinating this,” said Wennerstrom.<\/p>\n

“Chasing Classic Cars” once again filmed an episode at the event. Host Wayne Carini and journalist Ken Gross also held special presentations\u00a0each day on the field and interviewed Andrea Zagato and Michael Arnolt,\u00a0as well as numerous car owners. On Saturday they featured the 1963 Alfa Romeo\u00a0Giulia TZ poster car, a 1934 Ford Model B 5-Window Coupe and a 1938\u00a0Packard 1604 Super Eight Mayfair Coupe. On Sunday, they chose the\u00a01933 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Corto Spider, 2012 Alfa Romeo TZ3, 2013\u00a0Aston Martin V12 Zagato and Michael Arnolt’s 1957 Arnolt-Bristol DeLuxe\u00a0Roadster.<\/p>\n

In addition to a trophy, the winners of the Award of Timeless Elegance\u00a0Presented by HODINKEE Shop received a TAG Heuer Autavia Calibre 02 watch from HODINKEE. The\u00a0recipients were\u00a0chosen by HODINKEE founder Ben\u00a0Clymer. Saturday’s winner was the 1953 Arnolt-Aston Martin DB 2\/4\u00a0Roadster of Bill Pope. Sunday’s watch and trophy were presented to the\u00a01953 Ferrari 342 America of Bruce Vanyo.<\/p>\n
