It went MIA during the World War years, before surfacing again as an engine-less chassis. The car was purchased by a collector in Australia, where it was decided that it would be reconstructed to match the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Berlinetta Competizione that raced in the 1940 <a href=\"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/mille-miglia-2023-in-pictures\/\">Mille Miglia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_460802\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-460802\" style=\"width: 1243px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/2023-Sonoma-Charity-Challenge-Alfa-Romeo-6C-3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-460802\" src=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/2023-Sonoma-Charity-Challenge-Alfa-Romeo-6C-3.jpg\" alt=\"Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 at the 1940 Mille Miglia- From Wikimedia Commons\" width=\"2200\" height=\"1538\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-460802\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 at the 1940 Mille Miglia- From Wikimedia Commons<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>That 1940 Alfa, driven by Count Trossi and Ascanio Lucchi, finished an impressive 8th at the Mille Miglia in 1940&#8230;the final Mille Miglia before the war.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/2023-Sonoma-Charity-Challenge-Alfa-Romeo-6C-4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-460803\" src=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/2023-Sonoma-Charity-Challenge-Alfa-Romeo-6C-4.jpg\" alt=\"1939 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 engine\" width=\"2200\" height=\"1538\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This car is true to its racing heritage, with a period-correct engine, wooden body buck, and lightweight aluminum Superleggera (\u201clightweight\u201d) body by Touring.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/2023-Sonoma-Charity-Challenge-Alfa-Romeo-6C-5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-460804\" src=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/2023-Sonoma-Charity-Challenge-Alfa-Romeo-6C-5.jpg\" alt=\"1939 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 branding\" width=\"2200\" height=\"1538\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The car was up for sale at RM Sotheby&#8217;s 2023 Monterey auction, but the reserve price was not met, and the car did not sell.
