1986 Vauxhall Astra 4S<\/h1>\n

In 1986 GM Dealer Sport developed the Astra 4S as a possible Group S contender. It raced only once in the last round of the 1986 British Rally Championship before the Group S series was cancelled altogether.<\/span><\/p>\n

Within the regulations, GM was allowed to modify the car substantially with new front and rear subframes and Kevlar composite outter body panels.<\/p>\n

Unlike the production MKII Astra, the 4S had it’s engine mounted longitudinally and powered all four wheels. The 2.4 liter unit produced 340 bhp that was sent to all four wheels through an X-trac unit.<\/p>\n
