Drawing inspiration from the earlier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/2010-mclaren-mp4-12c\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">12C<\/a>, the P1 featured a carbon-fiber MonoCage chassis and roof structure, along with <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">McLaren\u2019s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> distinctive dihedral doors, first seen on the iconic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/mclaren-f1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">F1<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">At its core was a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 generating 717 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 176-horsepower electric motor. Rather than improving efficiency, the electric motor delivered seamless torque fill during gaps in the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">engine\u2019s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> powerband. Combined, the system produced 893 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> enabled the P1 to reach 0\u201360 mph in just 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 217 mph.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">McLaren unveiled the production version of the P1 at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, with only 375 units made. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It&#8217;s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> been more than a decade since its <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">released<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, but can it hold up on its own against the modern offerings from McLaren? Like the new 750S?
