Lamborghini has added a historic milestone to its motorsport legacy by securing its first overall win at the 24 Hours of Spa. Building on previous endurance racing success\u2014including three consecutive class wins at the 24 Hours of Daytona (2018\u20132020), back-to-back triumphs at the 12 Hours of Sebring (2018, 2019), and a recent victory at Petit Le Mans\u2014this marks Lamborghini\u2019s maiden victory in the prestigious Belgian endurance classic. It also becomes the brand\u2019s 191st win in the GT3 era and comes just ahead of the Hurac\u00e1n\u2019s successor, the Temerario GT3<\/em>, which debuts at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 11.<\/p>\n

The breakthrough came courtesy of the #63 Grasser Racing Team Hurac\u00e1n GT3 EVO2, driven by Lamborghini Factory Drivers Mirko Bortolotti (2024 DTM Drivers\u2019 Champion), Luca Engstler, and Jordan Pepper. The trio delivered a flawless performance around the challenging 7.004 km Spa-Francorchamps circuit.<\/p>\n

Jordan Pepper handled qualifying duties, placing the car 12th in the top-20 Superpole shootout on Friday. However, a penalty for exiting the pit lane too quickly dropped the team to 19th on the grid.<\/p>\n

Bortolotti took the start and quickly gained two positions during his opening stint, which followed an early full-course yellow on the second lap. Pepper and Engstler followed with strong double stints, keeping the car in contention through the night. As darkness fell and the race evolved, the #63 crew steadily climbed the order, emerging as serious contenders in the early hours of Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

With no rain to disrupt the action, the Hurac\u00e1n GT3 EVO2 showcased its full performance potential. A full-course yellow with just over four hours remaining briefly swung the strategic advantage to the #96 Porsche, which opted to pit and took the lead. But with Pepper and Bortolotti back behind the wheel, the Lamborghini clawed back a 17-second gap through strong pace and clean navigation of lapped traffic. The decisive moment came when the leading Porsche suffered a puncture before its final stop, allowing Bortolotti to reclaim the lead with 1 hour and 48 minutes remaining.<\/p>\n

Staying composed under the intense Belgian heat, Bortolotti brought the #63 across the line with an eight-second margin, securing a landmark victory for Lamborghini. Elsewhere, the second factory-entered Hurac\u00e1n GT3 EVO2\u2014driven by Sandy Mitchell, Marco Mapelli, and Franck Perera\u2014also showed strong pace. Mitchell led during his opening double stint, demonstrating the competitiveness of the #163 VSR car. Unfortunately, a refueling system glitch cost them time overnight, and their charge ended prematurely due to a power steering failure just after 4 a.m., despite still running in the top 10.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Gold Cup #333 entry from Paul Motorsport and the Bronze Cup #76 car from Barwell Motorsport both endured mixed fortunes but ultimately crossed the finish line, underlining the reliability and endurance capability of the Hurac\u00e1n GT3 EVO2.<\/p>\n

Jordan Pepper:<\/strong> “Winning this race makes me extremely proud, I have been an official factory driver with this brand for three years now and\u00a0 they have\u00a0 become my family, and to see how much effort has gone into the programme versus some of our competitors, everyone back home in Sant\u2019Agata, is amazing. But I want to thank everyone who gave me this opportunity to join Gottfried and his team, which I thought was a new challenge in my life. We have had heartbreak together but this has made us stronger; this has been the goal that we circled on the calendar, and I am so proud of this. Also I want to thank Mirko and Luca a hundred times because they did an awesome job.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Luca Engstler:<\/strong> “I have no words, this is the first victory for Lamborghini in this race; I have been working my whole life to be here and celebrate in style like we are doing now. After topping Superpole last year at Spa [also with Grasser Racing Team] and now victory in the 77th edition of the 24 Hours, Lamborghini has closed the cycle that already points towards the future with the successor to the Hurac\u00e1n, the Temerario GT3 \u2013 which will be presented on 11th July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed \u2013 set to make its racing debut in 2026.<\/p>\n
