Drag races don\u2019t get much juicier than this: a front-engined German brute with a twin-turbo V8 tuned versus an Italian supercar with a naturally aspirated V10. Organized by Mat Watson and his team from carwow<\/a>, it\u2019s the Mercedes-AMG GTR<\/a> squaring off against the Lamborghini Hurac\u00e1n Evo Spider\u2014both rear-wheel drive, both with launch control, and both fighting for quarter-mile bragging rights.<\/p>\n

But here\u2019s the twist\u2014while the Huracan comes as Sant\u2019Agata intended, the AMG has been given a serious boost. This isn\u2019t just a stock GTR; it\u2019s packing an extra 170 horsepower thanks to Pure Tuning. The question is, will brute force be enough to overcome Lamborghini\u2019s mid-engine traction advantage and sharper gearbox?<\/p>\n

The AMG GTR, normally a 585-hp twin-turbo V8, has been tuned with an engine and gearbox remap plus new downpipes. The result? 756 horsepower and a monstrous 1,120 Nm of torque. All that goes to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch auto with launch control. The Hurac\u00e1n Evo Spider<\/a>, meanwhile, sticks to its naturally aspirated roots. Its 5.2L V10 pushes out 610 horsepower and 560 Nm, also to the rear wheels through a seven-speed DCT.<\/p>\n

Over the standing quarter mile, brute force won out. The tuned AMG crossed the line in 11.5 seconds, just edging out the Huracan\u2019s 11.7-second run. Rolling races revealed the AMG\u2019s hidden power too, gapping the Lambo by an embarrassing margin.<\/p>\n
