Both cars are capable of mid-10-second quarter-mile runs, but with extreme heat and density altitude around 3,000 feet, conditions were far from ideal.<\/p>\n<p>The McLaren\u2019s twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8, rated from the factory at 666 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, gained roughly 25 horsepower and 16 lb-ft over the 650S. But on the strip, things got serious. The first run saw both cars cross the line neck and neck at 10.6 seconds. The McLaren\u2019s mid-engine layout gave it a sharper launch, but the Ferrari\u2019s power advantage showed at the top end, clocking 133 mph versus the McLaren\u2019s 131.<\/p>\n<p>On the rematch, the McLaren red-lighted, giving the Ferrari a clean win. Despite the heat and traction challenges, both cars demonstrated remarkable consistency.
