The 992.2 GT3<\/a> might not be the last naturally-aspirated 911 model to be produced, after all. Well, not the coupe in either its regular or Touring configuration, anyway. That’s because there’s a new sheriff in town\u2014and right now she’s being amicably referred to by many as the Porsche 911 GT3 “Sport Cabriolet”<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With Porsche scheduling the new 911 GT3 convertible ‘s launch for April 14, 2026\u2014via livestream on the company’s YouTube channel<\/a>\u2014none of the details, including the model name or even the specs, are official just yet. But insiders have confirmed, or leaked if you will, most of the pertinent details which will tell us where this car will sit in the Porsche hierarchy and what we can subsequently expect.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

At its core, the GT3 Sport Cabriolet will share the same underpinnings with the 992.2 GT3. Probably what many of us were expecting. Most notably, use of the same 502 hp 4.0L naturally-aspirated flat-6<\/strong> as the aforementioned, will be at the center of the driving experience. Like the regular GT3 variants, the Sport Cabriolet can be configured with either a 7-speed PDK<\/strong> or 6-speed manual transmission<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The new car will feature a mish-mash of design elements from various 911 models in the range, with a motor-operated convertible soft-top system seen on other cabriolets and a retractable rear wing setup\u2014likely the same one from the Touring parts bin\u2014amongst the expected fixtures on the Sport Cabriolet. Perhaps the most peculiar feature of the new drop-top GT3 will be its rumored incorporation of the GT3 RS’ front fenders<\/strong>. “Leaked”<\/em> pictures have previewed what this reality could look like, and if true, will certainly make for an interesting differentiation from the other GT3 models.<\/p>\n

No word yet on pricing, or more crucially, whether the 911 GT3 Sport Cabriolet will be a limited or regular production run model. If it’s the former, expect the usual dealer and pre-owned price mark-ups that have plagued the market for the past 5 years or so.
