CarExpert<\/a>\u2019s latest drag race pits two track-bred titans against each other in less-than-ideal conditions, as hosts Paul Maric<\/span><\/span> and Alborz Fallah<\/span><\/span> take the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series<\/span><\/span><\/a> and the Porsche 911 GT3 RS<\/span><\/span> to an unprepped airport runway.<\/p>\n

Rather than chasing headline numbers on a sticky drag strip, the duo focuses on real-world performance, where traction is limited and conditions are far from perfect. The AMG, powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo flat-plane crank V8 producing around 720 hp and 800 Nm of torque, sends all its force to the rear wheels. It can hit 60 mph in roughly 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of about 202 mph.<\/p>\n

The Porsche, by comparison, uses a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six delivering around 525 hp and 465 Nm. It also drives the rear wheels, matches the AMG with a 0\u201360 mph time of about 3.2 seconds, and tops out near 184 mph. What it lacks in outright power, it makes up for with precision engineering, exceptional traction management, and confidence off the line\u2014helped further by its ultra-sticky Cup 2 R tires.<\/p>\n

From the first standing start, both cars fight for grip, but once the AMG hooks up, it surges forward aggressively. Despite messy and inconsistent launches, its raw power allows it to claw back ground and even edge ahead. The Porsche, meanwhile, delivers cleaner, more predictable starts but can\u2019t quite match the AMG\u2019s straight-line punch.<\/p>\n

The rolling race tells a clearer story. Starting from 30 mph, traction becomes less of a limitation, and the AMG\u2019s 720 hp advantage takes over. It rockets ahead decisively, leaving the GT3 RS<\/a> trailing as the twin-turbo V8 delivers relentless acceleration.<\/p>\n
