Porsche is taking its customer racing program in an exciting new direction with the unveiling of the all-new 911 GT4 R, marking the first time a GT4 race car from Stuttgart has been based on the legendary 911 platform.<\/p>\n

Set to make its competitive debut in the 2027 motorsport season, the new machine replaces the Cayman-based GT4 racers that have dominated the category for nearly a decade. And with more power, wider tracks, and a direct connection to the latest 992-generation 911, this could be Porsche’s most serious GT4 contender yet.<\/p>\n

More Power, More 911 DNA<\/h3>\n

At the heart of the 911 GT4 R sits a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six boxer engine, derived from the current 911 GT3. In unrestricted form, the engine produces an impressive 520 PS (512 hp \/ 382 kW) and up to 346 lb-ft of torque.<\/p>\n

As with all GT4 machinery, output will ultimately depend on Balance of Performance regulations, with the car delivered from the factory with restrictors limiting power to 430 PS (424 hp). Power is sent to the rear wheels through a sequential six-speed dog gearbox operated via paddle shifters, paired with a four-disc racing clutch.<\/p>\n

Built on the 992.2 911 Cup Platform<\/h3>\n

The new racer shares its technical underpinnings with the current 911 Cup car, itself based on the road-going 992.2-generation 911 GT3. Compared with the outgoing Cayman GT4 Clubsport, the new car benefits from:<\/p>\n

Wider front and rear track widths, enhanced motorsport electronics, improved chassis adjustability, and greater stability and drivability in race conditions The suspension features dual-adjustable dampers and three selectable spring rates, giving teams a broad range of setup possibilities.<\/p>\n

Lightweight Materials and Aerodynamic Tweaks<\/h3>\n

Porsche has also focused heavily on reducing weight. The 911 GT4 R extensively uses natural-fiber-reinforced composite materials, including the doors, engine cover, aerodynamic elements, and sections of the cockpit.<\/p>\n

Aerodynamics have also been refined, with the rear wing featuring 11 manually adjustable positions to optimize downforce for different circuits. Inside, drivers are greeted by a 10.3-inch color display, integrated data logging, and a precision GPS designed to aid performance analysis during race weekends.<\/p>\n

A New Era for Porsche Customer Racing<\/h3>\n

According to Porsche Motorsport Vice President Thomas Laudenbach, the move reflects the rapid growth and increasing competitiveness of the GT4 category worldwide.<\/p>\n

For North American customers, the 911 GT4 R will compete in major series, including the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge and SRO Pirelli GT4 America, creating a more seamless progression from Porsche’s one-make championships into top-level GT racing.<\/p>\n

Porsche’s Cayman-based GT4 program has been hugely successful since its launch in 2016, producing more than 1,500 race cars and delivering numerous championships across global competition. The new 911 GT4 R is tasked with continuing that winning legacy while bringing the unmistakable character and prestige of the 911 nameplate to the GT4 grid.<\/p>\n

The Porsche 911 GT4 R is scheduled to enter competition in 2027, with pricing for North American customers set at $375,500, including importation and delivery within the United States.
