A new W16 Mistral has left the Atelier in Molsheim, marking the end of production for Bugatti<\/a>‘s open-top farewell to the legendary W16 engine. Finished in a two-tone \u2018Pearl\u2019 and \u2018Sparkle\u2019 livery, the final example embodies the model’s defining phrase: \u2018The last of its kind.\u2019 Its completion comes just days after Bugatti opened La Manufacture, the future home of Tourbillon production in Molsheim. As one chapter begins, another ends with the W16 engine’s road-going legacy, spanning the Veyron, Chiron, and, finally, the W16 Mistral<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Unveiled at Monterey Car Week<\/a> in 2022, the W16 Mistral toured the world before achieving a historic milestone in November 2024. Driven by Bugatti Pilote Officiel Andy Wallace, the one-off W16 Mistral World Record Car reached 453.91 km\/h (282 mph) at ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg, becoming the world’s fastest open-top production car ahead of series production in early 2025. Production also highlighted Bugatti’s Sur Mesure<\/a> program, where teams in Molsheim and Berlin collaborate with customers to create unique, highly personalized roadsters. The latest one-off, the W16 Mistral \u2018Blanc \u00c9ternel,\u2019 debuted earlier this month. Created with K\u00f6nigliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin, it combines digital precision with handcrafted porcelain artistry, reflecting both the customer’s vision and Bugatti’s craftsmanship.<\/p>\n

At the 2026 Silverstone Grand Prix, the record-setting W16 Mistral World Record Car was delivered to its owner, marking another milestone as customers continue enjoying their cars through Bugatti Grand Tours and other exclusive events. Inspired by the Type 57 Roadster Grand Raid, the final W16 Mistral also honors its own legacy as \u2018The last of its kind,\u2019 the final road-going W16. A dedication plate featuring the phrase and the car’s silhouette commemorates its significance.<\/p>\n

The exterior pairs \u2018Pearl\u2019 and \u2018Sparkle\u2019 with a \u2018Magnolia\u2019 and \u2018Grey Carbon Matt\u2019 interior while paying tribute to Ferdinand Pi\u00ebch’s original vision of a car capable of exceeding 400 km\/h while remaining refined enough for everyday elegance. The customer also honored Ettore Bugatti<\/a>, incorporating his signature into the headrests, door sills, and engine cover trim.<\/p>\n

Bugatti’s heritage continues through the Lalique<\/a>-crafted \u2018Spirit of the Wind\u2019 crystal armrest plate, celebrating the historic partnership between Ettore Bugatti and Ren\u00e9 Lalique. Working with Bugatti Sur Mesure Manager Jascha Straub and Bugatti Riyadh, the customer added a falcon-shaped gearshift topper and matching embroidered falcon motif, reflecting the cultural significance of the bird in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

Production concludes with 99 individually commissioned W16 Mistrals, each celebrating the engine that defined Bugatti for two decades.<\/p>\n
