San Marino-based restomod specialist Eccentrica has unveiled its second creation, the V12 Roadster, an open-top evolution of its extensively re-engineered first-series Lamborghini Diablo. The 550-hp restomod will make its public debut at The Quail on August 14. Eccentrica is taking its Lamborghini Diablo obsession to the next level.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The San Marino-based restomod specialist has revealed the Eccentrica V12 Roadster, an open-air interpretation of the company\u2019s re-engineered first-series Lamborghini Diablo. Following the original Eccentrica V12, the Roadster takes the same philosophy of mechanical reinvention and pushes it into a more extreme, more visceral package designed to deliver an uncompromising analog driving experience.<\/p>\n

Founded by entrepreneur and Lamborghini collector Emanuel Colombini, Eccentrica set out to completely rethink the first-series Diablo rather than simply restore it. More than 3,500 bespoke components are developed for each car, with virtually every major system re-engineered from the ground up.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The V12 Roadster represents the natural evolution of that philosophy. Created in collaboration with Milan-based design studio Borromeo De Silva, it removes the Diablo’s roof while retaining the unmistakable character and proportions of the original supercar.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

“The Eccentrica V12 was our opening statement. The Roadster is the next chapter; more exposed, more immediate, more demanding. No roof. No filter. Nothing between you and the machine,”<\/em> says Colombini.<\/p>\n

A reworked V12 at the heart of the Roadster<\/h3>\n

Power comes from a comprehensively re-engineered 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V12, retaining the mechanical character of the original Diablo while benefiting from modern engineering.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

ECU recalibration, improved thermal management and optimized airflow give the twelve-cylinder engine sharper throttle response and a more immediate delivery. The result is 550 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 600 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.<\/p>\n

The V12 Roadster sends that power through a six-speed close-ratio gated manual transmission, complete with reverse. It is a deliberately old-school setup that puts the driver directly in control of the car’s considerable performance. Eccentrica quotes a 0-62 mph time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 208 mph (335 km\/h).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Three selectable driving modes allow the Roadster’s character to be adjusted depending on the road and the driver’s mood, while the combination of a naturally aspirated V12, hydraulic steering and a gated manual gearbox keeps the experience firmly rooted in the analog era.<\/p>\n

A Diablo reimagined in carbon fiber<\/h3>\n

The V12 Roadster’s body has been extensively redesigned while remaining instantly recognizable as a Diablo.<\/p>\n

Eccentrica has constructed the body using steel and carbon fiber, with a wider track and revised proportions giving the Roadster a more planted stance. Removing the roof also required a dedicated aerodynamic development program to ensure that airflow around the open cockpit was properly managed.<\/p>\n

Rather than simply cutting the roof from the original architecture, Eccentrica has engineered the Roadster specifically around its open-air configuration. The original platform has also been heavily reworked. Carbon-fiber structural reinforcements are incorporated into the chassis, while revised suspension geometry and a bespoke semi-active damper system are designed to provide greater control and responsiveness.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The suspension uses double wishbones front and rear, while steering remains hydraulically assisted to preserve the kind of feedback that has increasingly disappeared from modern supercars. Braking performance comes from a Brembo system with 380-mm front and 345-mm rear rotors, while the Roadster rides on Pirelli Trofeo R tires, measuring 255\/30 R19 at the front and 325\/30 R19 at the rear.<\/p>\n

The result is a machine engineered to feel considerably more modern beneath its classic Diablo-inspired skin without losing the mechanical connection that made the original so compelling.<\/p>\n

An interior built around the driver<\/h3>\n

Inside, Eccentrica combines traditional materials with modern craftsmanship.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Connolly leather, Alcantara, anodized metal and exposed carbon fiber create an environment that mixes 1990s-inspired character with contemporary execution. Every Roadster will be individually configured through Eccentrica’s bespoke tailoring process, allowing each owner to specify the car according to their preferences.<\/p>\n

That exclusivity will be significant. Eccentrica plans to build just 19 examples of the V12 Roadster, making the open-top Diablo interpretation an exceptionally rare machine.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Technical development has also been overseen by a major figure from Lamborghini’s modern history. Eccentrica’s engineering team is led by Maurizio Reggiani, the former Chief Technical Officer of Lamborghini and one of the key engineers behind the Murci\u00e9lago, Gallardo, Aventador and Hurac\u00e1n.<\/p>\n

The ultimate open-air Diablo?<\/h3>\n

With the V12 Roadster, Eccentrica isn’t attempting to recreate the Lamborghini Diablo exactly as it was in the 1990s. Instead, it is asking a more interesting question: what might the Diablo have become if its fundamental character had been preserved while modern engineering technology was applied to it?<\/p>\n

The answer is a 1,540-kg, 550-hp open-top supercar with a naturally aspirated V12, gated manual transmission, hydraulic steering and a chassis developed specifically for modern performance. The Eccentrica V12 Roadster will make its public debut on August 14, 2026, at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, during Monterey Car Week.<\/p>\n
