The Ferrari 296 GTS<\/a> takes on the Porsche Cayenne Turbo EV in an unusual Carwow drag race that pits Italian hybrid supercar performance against the staggering acceleration of a high-performance electric SUV. With more than 1,100 horsepower, all-wheel drive and instant electric torque, the Porsche appears to have a significant advantage\u2014but the Ferrari has a crucial weapon of its own: dramatically lower weight.<\/p>\n

The Ferrari 296 GTS is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 paired with a hybrid system, producing 830 hp and 740 Nm of torque. Its power reaches the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, while launch control helps maximize traction from its approximately 1,640-kg chassis. The open-top Ferrari combines compact dimensions, a mid-mounted powertrain and sophisticated hybrid technology to deliver supercar-level performance.<\/p>\n

However, that immense output comes with a considerable mass penalty, with the electric SUV weighing around 2,645 kg\u2014roughly one tonne more than the Ferrari.<\/p>\n
