Mercedes-AMG has created an exceptionally focused performance coupe with the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung<\/a>, a hand-built model limited to just 30 examples. Based on the CLE Coupe, it combines a 646-hp twin-turbocharged V8 with rear-wheel drive, extensive weight reduction and aggressive aerodynamic development.<\/p>\n

The M177 Evo V8 produces 646 horsepower and 626 lb-ft of torque, sending its output exclusively to the rear wheels. AMG quotes 0\u201360 mph in 3.9 seconds and 0\u2013124 mph in 11.4 seconds. While the launch figures are restrained by the absence of all-wheel drive, the rear-drive layout gives the CLE 646 a distinctly more focused character.<\/p>\n

Aerodynamics are central to the car\u2019s transformation. The front splitter is adjustable, while removable wheel-arch liners can channel airflow to generate additional front-end downforce. A large adjustable rear wing contributes approximately 250 kg of downforce. The front track is 60 mm wider, while the ride height has been lowered by 22 mm at the front and 16 mm at the rear.<\/p>\n

Weight reduction is equally comprehensive. Removing the all-wheel-drive system saves approximately 170 kg, while the rear seats, sound insulation and rear glass have also been sacrificed. Carbon-fiber body panels, KW suspension, 420-mm carbon-ceramic brakes and Michelin Cup 2 RS tires further emphasize its track-oriented purpose.<\/p>\n

At Jarama, the CLE 646 demonstrated powerful braking, a tenacious front end and a communicative rear axle, although its near-1,900-kg mass remains noticeable. Its closest conceptual rivals include the BMW M4 CSL and Ford Mustang GTD<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mercedes says the 30-car limit reflects the labor-intensive hand-built production process at Affalterbach, placing the CLE 646 within its ultra-exclusive Mythos portfolio rather than the traditional Black Series range.<\/p>\n
