Bentley is stepping into a new era with the introduction of the Torcal, an all-new luxury SUV that becomes the British marque\u2019s first fully electric model. Positioned as a template for Bentley\u2019s future, the Torcal combines an unmistakably Bentley design with an 800-volt electrical architecture, up to 888 horsepower, 1,350 Nm of torque, and a driving range of up to 375 miles.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

“This is one of the most significant new Bentleys in the company\u2019s long history,”<\/em> said Bentley Chairman and CEO Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser. “Our new Torcal sets extraordinary benchmarks in every area that matters.”<\/em><\/p>\n

A new Bentley design language<\/h3>\n

Designed in Crewe under Design Director Robin Page, the Torcal introduces a new interpretation of Bentley\u2019s traditional design cues.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Its proportions are defined by a long wheelbase, short overhangs and a tall, upright front end, while a long hood reinforces the brand\u2019s signature presence. At the front, the illuminated diamond grille draws inspiration from Bentleys such as the Continental T.<\/p>\n

The rear takes a cleaner approach, with a tapered cabin sitting over muscular rear haunches. Bentley designers describe the effect as a \u201cresting beast\u201d\u2014a contained sense of power created through the shape of the body rather than excessive styling lines.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The diamond motif continues throughout the cabin, appearing in everything from surfaces and textures to the detailing of the interior. Inside, the familiar Bentley wing-inspired dashboard remains central to the design. Leather, wool, wood and aluminum are combined with physical controls, knurled switches and updated versions of Bentley\u2019s trademark bullseye air vents.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The standard seats offer 16-way adjustment, heating, ventilation, adjustable bolsters and massage functions. Optional Postural Adjust and Smart Seat Climate systems continuously adjust the seats and temperature for improved long-distance comfort. A three-seat rear bench with power folding is also available, a first for Bentley.<\/p>\n

888 HP from two electric motors<\/h3>\n

The Torcal may be electric, but Bentley says its performance philosophy remains familiar.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Two permanent-magnet synchronous motors deliver all-wheel drive, with the range-topping Torcal S producing 888 PS and 1,350 Nm when Launch Control is activated. That is enough for a 0-60 mph time of just 2.8 seconds, while top speed reaches 162 mph.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The standard Torcal produces 821 PS and 1,194 Nm, reaches 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and tops out at 155 mph. Power comes from a 113-kWh net battery consisting of 192 lithium-ion pouch cells operating at 800 volts. Bentley says the battery supports charging from 10 to 80 percent in just under 20 minutes at a 400-kW charger. A seven-minute charging session can add around 100 miles of range.<\/p>\n

Active suspension without anti-roll bars<\/h3>\n

The Torcal also introduces Bentley\u2019s first fully active suspension system.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Adaptive two-valve dampers can independently raise or lower each corner of the vehicle, reacting to road conditions and driver inputs. Rather than relying on conventional anti-roll bars, the system uses the active dampers to control body movement.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Rear-wheel steering is standard, with up to five degrees of rear steering angle reducing the turning circle to 11.1 meters. The result is intended to give the Torcal a broad range of personalities\u2014from relaxed long-distance cruiser to genuinely sporting SUV.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Braking comes from 420-mm front and 370-mm rear iron discs, while an optional carbon-silicon-carbide system increases disc sizes to 440 mm at the front and 410 mm at the rear.<\/p>\n

Up to 375 miles of range<\/h3>\n

At around five meters long, the Torcal is the shortest four-door model in Bentley\u2019s lineup, yet it offers a 460-liter rear cargo area supplemented by a 90-liter front storage compartment.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Maximum range is rated at 375 miles, or 600 km. Bentley has also equipped the SUV with an extensive collection of driver-assistance technology. A network of 25 cameras, radars and sensors monitors the vehicle’s surroundings, supporting features such as automated parking, towing assistance and remote parking.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The system can even identify an obstacle on a narrow road and automatically reverse to a previously identified position to allow it to pass.<\/p>\n

Bentley creates a soundtrack for the electric era<\/h3>\n

One of the more unusual aspects of the Torcal is its approach to artificial sound.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Instead of simply attempting to reproduce the sound of an internal-combustion engine, Bentley created the Bentley Dynamic Symphony using real instruments, including drums, viola and bass guitar. The soundtrack was inspired by the rhythm of Bentley’s V8 engines and changes with vehicle speed and torque demand. It becomes more pronounced in Sport mode, while drivers can switch it off completely.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Even smaller sounds have been given a handcrafted treatment. The turn-signal sound, for example, was created from a recording of a hammer striking leather inside Bentley’s upholstery workshop.<\/p>\n

Luxury goes digital, and sustainable<\/h3>\n

The Torcal’s cabin combines Bentley’s traditional craftsmanship with several new materials. Among them is a 100-percent Merino wool automotive fabric developed with British textile company Fox Brothers. The material is certified under the Responsible Wool Standard.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Mulliner also introduces an Ombr\u00e9 Walnut finish created using up to 1,000 individually selected layers of responsibly sourced walnut offcuts and recycled craft paper. Another new option, Sunburst Aluminium, takes inspiration from the engine-turned aluminum dashboards found in historic Bentleys.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Technology is equally prominent. Curved OLED displays, facial recognition, a smartphone-based digital key and an augmented-reality head-up display are all available. The cabin also features four Experience Modes\u2014Bentley, Comfort, Sport and Refresh\u2014that alter everything from lighting and sound to climate control and digital information.<\/p>\n

Torcal S adds a more aggressive look<\/h3>\n

Two versions will be available at launch: the standard Torcal and the more performance-focused Torcal S.<\/p>\n

The S gets black exterior brightwork and mirror caps, darker rear lights, a more aggressive rear diffuser, sportier side sills and front bumper strakes. Red brake calipers, S-specific badging, sports pedals and Piano Black interior trim further separate it from the standard model.<\/p>\n

The Torcal S also receives its own seat stitching and quilting design, illuminated treadplates and dynamic waterfall-style ambient lighting.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

With the Torcal, Bentley is not simply electrifying an existing model. The company is using its first EV to rethink what a modern Bentley can be\u2014combining extreme electric performance with handcrafted materials, advanced chassis technology and the long-distance comfort expected from the brand.<\/p>\n
