These drives help engineers evaluate the car during everyday use, including situations where cooling systems must operate effectively in high ambient temperatures.

The racetrack introduces a different level of stress. Repeated acceleration, high speeds, heavy braking, and sustained cornering place simultaneous demands on the powertrain, tires, brakes, and cooling systems. The result is a comprehensive test of the car’s ability to manage heat while delivering its full performance potential.

Cabin Comfort Remains a Priority

For Bugatti, thermal management is not simply about protecting mechanical components. The company also wants the Tourbillon to remain a comfortable place for its occupants, even when the car is operating close to its limits.

That distinction is particularly important in a hypercar capable of delivering 1,800 horsepower. Drivers need to remain comfortable and focused to make the most of the car’s performance, whether on a demanding circuit or during a long-distance journey.

“When you have a lot of power but you don’t feel comfortable on the track or on the road, it’s very difficult to be precise,” said Paolo Magrone, a vehicle development driver at Bugatti Rimac. “So it’s very important to keep the comfort in the cabin and the temperature in the cabin quite fresh to allow the customers as well to enjoy the car at its best.”

Maintaining stable cabin temperatures and consistent airflow under extreme conditions is therefore a key part of the validation process. For a car designed to combine track-level capability with long-distance usability, exceptional performance must go hand in hand with refinement.

From Dubai to Seville: Testing the Extremes

The Tourbillon’s hot-weather development began well before the latest testing sessions in Spain.
