The ShowTime Repco-Mod 933 turns a Porsche 996 into an outrageous, widebody stunt machine with an LSX V8, a sequential eight-speed gearbox, and a handmade aluminum body.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the wildest custom builds to emerge ahead of the Repco Bathurst 1000 has officially been unveiled at Mount Panorama, and it throws just about every Porsche convention out the window. Meet the ShowTime Repco-Mod 933, a heavily modified Porsche 911 Type 996 that trades its traditional rear-mounted flat-six for a front-mounted, twin-turbocharged LSX V8 producing more than 1,200 horsepower.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Created by Gary Reid, brand ambassador for Australian entertainment group ShowTime, in collaboration with automotive parts and accessories retailer Repco, the 933 is a one-off machine built for maximum visual impact and high-energy stunt performances.<\/p>\n

The idea behind it was straightforward, even if the execution was anything but.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve always been a Porsche fan, and I love big-horsepower V8s, so the plan was simple: put a twin-turbo LS 427 in the front of a 911 Porsche, build a one-off wide-body kit, take inspiration from builds all over the world,”<\/em> Reid explained. “And the result is this: the 933 Twin Turbo.”<\/em><\/p>\n

More than 2,000 hours of fabrication<\/h3>\n

The project began with a tired Porsche shell and boxes of parts. From there, Reid and his team spent more than 2,000 hours transforming the car into a purpose-built custom machine, with extensive metal fabrication covering everything from the firewalls and floor structure to the transmission tunnel and roll cage.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The result is a bespoke chassis and body structure incorporating a race-car-inspired front end. More than 280 individually fabricated components and laser-cut details contribute to the finished design, while carbon fiber is used for the roof, hood, and doors.<\/p>\n

The handmade aluminum widebody conversion is arguably the car’s most striking feature. Exaggerated fenders, aggressive proportions, and a massive rear wing give the Porsche an unmistakable motorsport-inspired appearance. A distinctive shark fin connects the roofline to the extreme rear wing, adding another dramatic element to the silhouette.<\/p>\n

Creating the bodywork required countless 3D-printed templates, along with plenty of hands-on metal shaping. According to the team, the process also involved more than a few bruised knuckles along the way.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Late-model Porsche headlights and taillights modernize the lighting package, while STEDI auxiliary lights add extra presence at the front.<\/p>\n

The exterior is finished in Sandy Taupe, a color borrowed from Toyota’s Land Cruiser lineup. Red, black, and blue accents provide contrast across the turbocharger intakes, brakes, wheels, and roll cage, giving the build a distinctive look without relying on an overly complicated paint scheme.<\/p>\n

A Twin-Turbo LSX V8 where the Flat-Six should be<\/h3>\n

The biggest departure from Porsche tradition is found beneath the front hood.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Instead of the factory 996’s rear-mounted flat-six, the 933 features a heavily modified LSX V8 mounted at the front of the car. Twin Turbosmart turbochargers force-feed the engine, helping it produce more than 1,200 horsepower.<\/p>\n

The custom exhaust system adds to the spectacle by exiting directly through the hood, making the engine installation as visually aggressive as it is mechanically unconventional.<\/p>\n

Moving the powertrain to the front required extensive engineering throughout the car. The cooling system is mounted behind the passenger compartment, against a full-height firewall, creating a mid-mounted cooling arrangement that accommodates the radically reconfigured layout.<\/p>\n

Access to the cooling hardware is provided through a combined, single-piece rear window and former engine-cover assembly. The unusual setup effectively gives the modified 911 a hatchback-style rear opening.<\/p>\n

Power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed Bentley gearbox adapted for sequential shifting. A fabricated motorsport rear end handles the substantial output, while custom race-engineered suspension helps manage the car’s extreme performance potential.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The specifications are as unconventional as the build itself, but one figure stands above the rest: more than 1,200 horsepower delivered to the rear wheels.<\/p>\n

Race-Inspired cockpit with custom controls<\/h3>\n

Inside, the 933 continues its blend of motorsport hardware and custom fabrication.<\/p>\n

A pair of carbon-fiber Recaro seats are trimmed in Porsche’s traditional Pepita fabric, combining lightweight construction with a nod to the brand’s heritage. A Supercars-inspired MPI steering wheel provides the main driving controls, while the custom pedal box completes the bespoke cockpit layout.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Two additional carbon-fiber levers take center stage: one operates the sequential gearbox, while the other controls a hydraulic rear handbrake. Together, these controls are intended to give the driver the tools needed for the car’s planned stunt duties.<\/p>\n

Car Builders sound-deadening and heat-insulation materials have also been installed throughout the cabin, an important consideration given the extensive mechanical changes and unconventional cooling arrangement.<\/p>\n

The car rides on custom Rotiform wheels measuring 18 x 9.5 inches at one end and 18 x 10 inches at the other, wrapped in Dunlop tires.<\/p>\n

Repco and ShowTime have not published an official 0\u201362 mph time, and with this much power going exclusively to the rear wheels, straight-line acceleration will depend heavily on traction and conditions. Tire longevity, meanwhile, is clearly not the build’s primary objective.<\/p>\n

From Mount Panorama to Australia’s biggest car events<\/h3>\n

The official unveiling took place at Mount Panorama ahead of the Repco Bathurst 1000, one of Australia’s most celebrated motorsport events. The collaboration also highlights the shared enthusiasm for custom automotive projects across Repco’s community of employees and customers.<\/p>\n

Repco’s own automotive culture extends well beyond road-car maintenance, encompassing restorations, drift builds, and open-wheel racing projects. The 933 represents that same hands-on approach taken to an extreme.<\/p>\n

The car’s name carries its own significance. The number 33 comes from ShowTime’s traditional racing number, connecting the project to the entertainment group’s wider motorsport identity.<\/p>\n

The Porsche will soon join ShowTime’s stunt fleet, with appearances already scheduled at some of Australia’s major upcoming automotive culture events. Its combination of an unconventional engine layout, oversized bodywork, and extreme power should make it a natural fit for live demonstrations and enthusiast gatherings.<\/p>\n

For Porsche purists, a front-mounted American V8 might be difficult to reconcile with the 911’s defining engineering formula. For custom-car fans, however, that is precisely the point.<\/p>\n

The ShowTime Repco-Mod 933 is not attempting to preserve the original 996 formula. Instead, it takes a familiar Porsche silhouette and transforms it into a one-off, 1,200-horsepower stunt machine built to stand out wherever it goes.<\/p>\n
