When rumours of a model as mouthwatering as an open-top version of the Ferrari 430 Scuderia surface, one thing you can guarantee is that the first renderings are not far round the corner. We can now tell you that this corner is now sitting firmly in our rear view mirrors after expert renderer and photoshopper Jon Sibal has put together this small of group of renderings for the world to peer over.

If the rumours are true and the spider variant of the 430 Scuderia does actually make it to production, we could well see it as early November 5th at the Ferrari Challenge at Mugello. A retractable hardtop roof will feature instead of a lighter convertible fabric which means the super light Scuderia Spider will see 70kg added to its dry weight. Ferrari will counter this performance dropping weight gain by incorporating its brand new 7-speed dual clutch transmission system which will debut in the brand new Ferrari California.

No more than 300 units are expected to be produced come production time.

  3. If they had fitted a roll bar, and said screw having a roof it'd be a real open top racer that would be even more in demand.... something like what they have on a Lotus 2-Eleven....
  4. This article from Piston heads covers my thoughts pretty well:

"The Ferrari F430 Scuderia is currently the most focussed Ferrari available offering more power, and less weight than the 'standard' F430. Even the mighty Enzo had to bow down after the 430 Scud beat it's time around the Ferrari test track.

Now we hear unconfirmed rumours that a Spider is planned for late 2008, with production limited to around 300 vehicles. A test mule has been spotted with Scuderia wheels and badges so it seems likely the rumours are true. But if you are anything like us, this will seem a little odd.

Firstly, won't the fact that the roof is being removed mean some strengthening will need to be added, therefore increasing the weight. The Scuderia was created to be lightweight, that's the point? Secondly, for a track focussed car the rigidity offered by a coupe surely has to be preferred?

Be in no doubt that there will be a market for this car, and while the rumours are unconfirmed, with a launch planned for late this year an official announcement will have to be made very soon. "
  5. That would be rad.
  6. Yeah well, some people don't want to be the fastest man at the trackday. They just want to have maximum fun.
  7. What he said .

It is a track focused car so ditch the roof and go full blown race barchetta god damned
  8. Perfect to enjoy that awesome sound.
  9. Take it to a tunnel with the roof down.
  10. Yesterday I spoke with a scuderia owner who said he was offered to trade in his scuderia for a spyder when its released.

so i guess the rumor is true.

he really liked the idea, mostly because of how exclusive the car would be.
  11. Two of my friends both got a Scuderia and a 430 Spider. They both really, really want a Scud Spider to come out. That way they will have alle the qualities in ONE car. Obviously.
  12. ferrari fanboys are shit, this thread proves it again

  15. and this thread proves why people who don't read posts correctly are shit too<A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/angry.gif"></A>
  17. don't hate ferrari, hate the consumer market that demands it, ferrari's just making more profit
  18. Totally agree
  19. How old are you? 5?

Ferrari is a company. Companies are meant to make money so that they can develop further and introduce new technologies and products. On top of that running an F1 team doesn't come cheap.

But in this case they are just giving the clients what they want. Why is that so bad?

What Ferrari is achieving should not be possible for a car manufacturer that small. They are world leading technology wise and the company is about the size of the spare wintertire warehouse of Mercedes-Benz. THAT is impressive.

  20. *Cough* Porsche SUV *Cough*
  21. Scuderia Spider zooms in
Sneaky shot shows lightweight coupe with top off.

The lid has been lifted on of the most rapid Ferrari ever. This grainy image of the 430 Scuderia Spider – a drop-top version of the stripped out coupé - was spied hanging on a company exec’s office wall during a recent interview. Boasting the same 510bhp 4.3-litre V8 engine, the open-top model will offer near-identical performance but with an even better soundtrack. Expect a £200,000 price tag when it goes on sale next year.
  22. What a shitty photoshop.
  23. Hope it's just all bogus!
  24. I'd be happy with this shit...
  25. The renderings look sweet good. And screw the fact it will be 0.001% not as good the hardtop. It'll probably be 50% more exciting.
