  1. if the two are competeing automobiles, what the **** difference does the 1.1 liters have? HUH? it shouldnt make a difference unless the fans of the smaller displacement car feel inadequate. The two cars were built to compete with each other yet Ford decided to give itself a disadvantage by giving its car a smaller engine, dont make excuses, the cobra loses to its direct competitor, the SS, reguardless of how it still loses.

  6. sounds like alot of people that don't know what they are talkin about and alot of die-hard chevy fans fighting. These days, you just can't make a massive over powered muscle car. It won't sell, with gas prices high, damn insurance agents that can charge you more a month than for the car itself, and none the less the price of the car, its just not smart. Most Mustang owners like to do the upgrades and mods themselvs anyway. As for the talk about why isn't there a 6 spd, the 5 speed has very high gears, my 2000 GT will push over 150mph, and thats plently fast enough for just about any car, most people don't drive on the track daily. So, why can't everyone just get along? M'kay?

    Oh my...13.4 isn't fast huh. 12.9 isn't fast with slicks on huh? Moron. Yet I'm sure that you think the camaro ss is really fast because it runs around a 13.4.

  13. Ford has knows more about their Priorities than the general public. The Camaro is dead, the Mustang is still in production, the mustang Doubles the sales than the F-Bodies combined, I think they know where there priorities stand. Its better to have a hot selling "good" car, than to have a slow selling "great" car. Its economics.

    Earlier yall were talkin about Ford underrating its hp for insurance reasons. Could this mean that the new '03 svt cobra may have more than 390? I mean 390 surprised me, but over 400 would be astounding.

    Oh, and by the way, I think Ford is the only company with its priorities straight. The mustang is here, it is fast, it is good looking, and its here to stay. You can also really supe it up. So lets just all hold hands and say fast cars rule. =D
     
  17. Yes. It has a very underated 390 bhp. On an average they make 360-370rwhp, which is about 420bhp with a standard 15% drivetrain loss. A little more than the factory rated 390bhp. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>.   19. That's what I figured. It has the functional shaker hood scoop, which chevy rates as 10 horsepower from the z28 to the ss, and the live axle will be worth maybe another 10 because the IRS steals horses. That should put it at around 340. Where'd you here that?
     
  20. Its one of the newer Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords magizines. I can't remember which one, I 'll check and post it. I do know that they said by the times and speed its posting in the quarter mile it should have around 340hp.
     
  21. people people, cant we get a long? opinions are opinions, if you think that a car is ugly, fine, that doesnt make it fact. the reason i think that mustangs are so cool and why I enjoy there looks is because they never forget their history and that for decades no one could beat shelby and his mustang. I hear all the time people knocking the gold racing stripe on the side of my black mustang and I love it, it goes right back to the old shelby GT's. I have a 2001 black mustang v-6 with 500 BHP (i put in ported upper and lower intakes with ported cylender heads a a 3way valve with new rooler rockers, cam, and higher lift valve springs, headers, exhaust, underdrive pulley, superchip, MSD ignition, 255lph fuel pumps, and to kick it off an intercooled pro-charger running 12 lbs of boost. Im an opera singer but I also race cars with gogo racing at limrock, CT and with ford motorsports down in englishtown, NJ. People always ask me why i have a 6 instead of an 8, A)insurance, B)nobody has a 6 like mine its totally unique, unlike the 8's theres tons of them. anyways getting back to the point. I wanted to say that incase anybody had any doubts about my car background or age. now its true that ford makes low-output mustangsd for the most part, with the exception of the new cobra (however i have a feeling that ford made more power out of the mach than they expected), anyways, they are competing in a totally different price range than GM. and the reason they dont put in a 6th speed is because its a race car, not a luxery car, 6-speeds are not for speed, they are for fuel economy, unless the car is putting out some huge numbers at high speeds. around a race track a vette owner will never put the car into 6th gear, and only maybe put it into 5th. 4th gear is a huge race track gear. also, 5 speeds are lighter, i was going to put in a 6 but instead i decided to keep my 3.27's in the rear so i could keep the long pull and low rpm's. 6 speeds are necessary in porsches cause they have such high gears that they wouldnt get any fuel economy with out a 6th, i mean in 6th at 70mph they are revving at 2.5 where a vette will rev at 1.6. the other thing that ford does is make a car easy to work on. i own a 450 BHP vette and i had a ***** of a time working on it. i didnt even bother messing with the headers. mustangs are so simple to work on and used to be even easier until they came out with all these electronics.

    the mach is a neat car cause its showing the history and significance of the car and why its so special and for that i think it is very beatiful (excluding the fact thats its #$%#in fast as hell).
     
  22. I really didn't get too far on this fourm before idiots starting showing up. I don't know if someone explained this later on in the fourm but I'll do it again. GT means Gran Touring not Grand Prix. By the way wtf is GTP? Is that something the guy made up or what? Also at the beginning there was talk about a 6-speed instead of a 5. Like someone said cost and really isn't needed. Someone else also said the had alot of room under the hood to play around. Thats why I think they should go back to the 302 instead of 4.6 liter.
     
  23. 300hp for a naturally aspirated car is not bad at all. At least ford is leaning towards a more advanced valvetrain which is more than can be said for those pushrod-roller-rocker LS1s.
     
  24. Would it not be cheaper altogether to make a new cast rather than to cut off 25% of the block, and put it back through the smelting process?
     
  25. haha. My girlfriend's mom got a 69 Mach 1 (351) when she was 16 and she doesn't ever plan on replacing it, unless it's with a 2003 mach 1.

    It's all about image. That's how the mustang still has a market for it's 3.8liter auto V6s.
