I'll ask all the car experts of SC.net about this car I saw that's for sell. Saw this 1987 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z at a car show. It's in a very good condition, no winters, under carriage is perfect with no rust at all, interior is in excellent condition too. It's got 150,000 kms on the odometer. Engine is a 4 banger 2.2 liter Turbo II, that's been rebuilt, rated at 200 hp with a 5 speed manual transmission. It's well equiped too. Got electric seats with ajustable lumbar support, T-tops, Infinity sound system, etc... Also comes with the rims that you see in the pics and factory wheels that came with it. Asking price: $5,000 What you do guys say about this? I think it's a bit pricey, but for the condition of that car, I don't think the owner is going to budge on that price.
As this is the first time I have heard of this car my opinion is completely at face-value. The only research I've done is how much that is in £. For under £2500 it sounds like an absolute steal.
Kids not left yet, dammit! There's only 3 issues, that I saw with that car. If you look at this pic, you'll see the lower moulding on the left door needs to be replace. Also, on the rear pic of the car, you can see a crack on the right taillight. And last thing, those Daytona Shelby Z, on the black molding that goes around the car, it's missing a small red pinstripping in it. The owner took it off saying it looks better that way. But the REAL issue is this: The Pontiac G5 will be replace after winter. I said to my girlfriend that after winter, if its still in the driveway, I'll blow it up!! I cannot stand that car anymore! By seeing this car, it's like not the right time to be paying for 2 cars.
Never was a fan of these cars. They just look awkward, and blah. Unless it was free I would say its overpriced. I would rather pick up a decent old school Ford or Chevy pickup that needs some minor work for $5k then one of these.
You can get better for that price. Get a Mustang and live up to your username. Get an old truck and sink stupid amounts of money into it. Or not.
What you insensitive niggers don't understand is that this carriage reminds him of the time when his ***** would work and ******* ******** So #$%# yea go for it. Your xxx partner will probably murder you and then torture you though.
My dad owned a Chrysler Plymouth dodge dealership growing up. I got a lot of seat time in the Daytona, minivan, and even the viper. The Daytona always smelled a little wet.
if its something you're interested in I'd offer 2500 and walk if he gave you any issue with it. that and as stated theres alot better stuff out there for that amount of money
If you drive a G5 then this is still a marked improvement, but the Daytona will be slow and will leak oil sooner or later. Find a Firebird/Camaro or something along those lines? It's in really good shape but $5000 nooooo. That's 80s V8 money in Ontario/Quebec
I was attracted to it because when I go to car shows, I see alot of Firebirds and Trans Ams, Camaro, 'Stangs, Challengers, Caddies, etc.., you know, you came with me at shows and most probably, you noticed that. Now a Daytona, especially a Shelby Z, I never see those. So I said to myself with that Daytona, at car shows, I'll be different. But I'll agree with you, 2500 to 3000 tops, that's more than enough for it.
Take a look at this? http://www.kijiji.ca/v-voiture-collection/ville-de-montreal/chrysler-daytona-es-turbo-a-vendre/1089623421?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true Yup! $5000 is a bit high.
Like this? http://www.kijiji.ca/v-autos-camions/longueuil-rive-sud/1992-ford-mustang-lx-coupe-2-door/1103894084?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true I'll agree with you, that would be a better deal.
I assume the turbo was the highest level of this particular car? I'd get this one over the other any day of the week. I get what you mean about being unique. that is a big plus but the original one is just a bit too pricey.
I was basing my opinion on what I could see, not on whether the car is actually good or not since I have absolutely no idea at all not having seen one in real life before. What I see when I look at that is: Low mileage (for the age) 200hp isn't completely awful - 1980s turbo lag is fun rebuilt engine is a *good* thing well equipped for the 80s (electric seats etc) good cosmetic condition Louvres! Remove all badge snobbery and the ingredients sound quite appealing to me EDIT: even if you bought it to mess around with for a couple of years I doubt you'd lose too much money on it if you kept it in working order/clean.
