  1. ZR-1 laps the ring in 7:26.4

...and a different set of tires, not screaming so much! <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/wink.gif"></A>

I acturlly think what you are seeing is merely a car being pushed very hard and close to the edge, not "sloppyness".

The car is going around some of those corners at some pretty high speeds.

Indeed, but there was a few turns he messed up on. I would put money that it could go faster.

Seriously. It's the 17th century suspension.

  6. ZR-1 laps the ring in 7:26.4

Even if it is faster, I dont really care because they are comparing a top of the line 638HP ZR1 against a standard GTR. Which is hilarious cause when the Spec-V comes out the ZR1 is going to need another 200hp on that V to get a better time lol.

Car & Driver must have gotten a real GT-R....

  8. ZR-1 laps the ring in 7:26.4

    UGHHHH

  9. ZR-1 laps the ring in 7:26.4

The GT-R won that test. LOL

wow@ vipers top speed. Didnt realize the crazy downforce would drop the top speed that much.

It seems just that the Vette is RWD with tons of power and a tendancy to oversteer where the GTR wouldnt. The ZR1 has to be controlled more by the driver.

A GT2 would probably handle more like the Vette than the GTR too. It doesnt mean its sloppy, or bad on the track, its just more of a handful.

I think we also need a little more info regarding the exact specs and setup of that GTR run. It seems to sound a little louder and rigid in the suspension than usual but I could be wrong. ECU programming maybe?

I'd imagine the GT2 would be a handfull too, but not as bad as the Vette

Look at how much of a lead the ZR1 gets on the straights, but when the corners come the GTR catches right up

    HAHHAAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAA

  14. ZR-1 laps the ring in 7:26.4

    Oohh

  15. ZR-1 laps the ring in 7:26.4

The GT2 has Rs, the ZR1 doesn't. The GT-R's tires are somewhere in between.

  16. ZR-1 laps the ring in 7:26.4

the GTRs are as R as you can get without being Rs. PS2s are very definitely street tires.

More like the Spec-V is going to need a 200lb diet. The fact is just stupid heavy

  18. ZR-1 laps the ring in 7:26.4

Obviously the weight isn't holding it back

the lead the the ZR1 gets on the straits seems kinda minimal to me. zr1 does seem considerablyfaster in the fast turns before karasel(sp?). makes me wonder what effect the vetaero mods have.

  20. ZR-1 laps the ring in 7:26.4

    can't argue with the facts

  21. ZR-1 laps the ring in 7:26.4

It would not surprise me if the GTR 7:29 lap actually turned out to be the V-SPEC

"The regular ZO6 power to weight is 6.20 pounds per hp and it ran a 7:49 on The Ring. The GTR has a pound per hp of 7.91 and ran a 7:29 on the Ring. In order for the ZR1 to finally beat the GTR it has 5.21 pound per hp. That is HUGE. This means that the ZR1 engine has to carry 2.7lbs less per horse power than the GTR."

Except that the Nissan Engineers were the ones to release the video. But since you are like a typical American, let's add this to the conspiracy theories list. This truly is such a big deal and is so unbelievable because it's JAPANESE, OMG!!!11!!!one!!11 IT RUNS FASTER THAN A Z06?!?!?! OMG!!! THEY MUST BE LYING CUZ FERRARI CANT DO BETTER!!! OMG!!!!

Seriously, you guys look incredibly stupid.

    Here's what you look like:

The ZR1 couldn't have posted that fast of a lap, because that would mean the Corvette's plastic materials would have flown off the car. Plus, I bet they were using racing tires, cuz American cars aren't fast around a track. Oh, they used some special GPS system that turns the car into the track. Oh now wait, it has a launch control system, so that must mean an XBOX is controlling it, Microsoft is at it again.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - This is what you guys look like, now please, go back to counting the ceiling tiles at work, maybe you could get more done in a day that way.

Not to mention the nitrogen that fills the GTRs isn't exactly what you get at your local gas station.

  25. ZR-1 laps the ring in 7:26.4

It's not that it's Japanese you idiot. It's that it seems to defy physics. I'm a HUGE Skyline GTR fanboi, and I love the GTR too... But the numbers just don't seem to add up. It just doesn't seem right that such a big, fat car with such a hp/weight ratio could post such figures. For the money it would still be an impressive car if it just broke 8 minutes! Under 7:30 is crazy fast. If it had 800HP and weighed 3,000lbs everyone would be underwhelmed by that kind of a time, but with under 500 Hp and weighing 73.97 tons it just seems fishy.

I want to see some independent run that gets ANYWHERE close to that lap time before I'll believe it was stock. I WANT to believe, and it's a fantastic car even if that time is BS... I just think it's unethical if they're tauting that time for one that wasn't stock.
