BOWLING GREEN, Ky. –Grand Sport. It’s one of the most storied monikers in Corvette’s illustrious racing heritage. Today, Chevrolet announced it is returning to the lineup in the new, 2010 Corvette Grand Sport model.

Owned by an unknown GM Styling employee, this 1954 Corvette was outfitted with several unique design features. These were the results of two design exercises that included both interior and exterior upgrades.

1955 was the year the Corvette finally got the much needed small-block V8.

In the second year of Corvette production only minor updates were made to make it more usable. Although these upgrades were modest, the 1953 version, with a limited production of 300, is still much more desirable.

SIDESWIPE takes the form of a sleek, vision concept dreamed up by the Corvette designers at GM. The design is influenced by the original Stingray race car, introduced in 1959, but also draws on Corvette heritage cues from other generations.
