A 1991 Ferrari F40 will be offered at Bonhams Cars on October 12 with an estimated value of up to $3,400,000. Widely regarded as the definitive modern Ferrari, the F40 remains one of the most celebrated supercars ever built and a milestone in automotive history.
Conceived to mark Enzo Ferrari’s 40th anniversary as a manufacturer, it was also the last model introduced during his lifetime, cementing its cultural and collector significance. Powered by a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 478 horsepower, the F40 delivered astonishing performance for its era, including a 201 mph top speed and 0–124 mph in just 12 seconds.
Its lightweight Kevlar and carbon composite construction drew directly from Ferrari’s Formula 1 expertise, while its raw, stripped-down interior reinforced its reputation as a road-legal race car. Styled by Pininfarina’s Leonardo Fioravanti, its aggressive lines, prominent rear wing, and purposeful stance made it an instant icon.
The example offered, chassis 90667, is a rare variant equipped with catalytic converters and adjustable suspension. Delivered new by Crepaldi Auto in Milan to a resident of Jersey in the Channel Islands, it later spent more than two decades in single ownership in Tokyo, where it was meticulously maintained by Cornes Ltd.
The car shows just 18,933 km at cataloguing and has benefited from consistent care, including multiple timing belt replacements and the installation of new fuel tanks in 2020. Its most recent service was completed by Autohaus Blöchl in Bavaria in October 2024.
Importantly, this F40 is currently undergoing Ferrari Classiche certification and will be delivered with its Red Book to the new owner. Accompanying documentation includes the original service book, instruction manual, leather pouch, extensive invoices, and registration records.
