This is the 2018 McLaren 720S

Hands down, McLaren is definitely the best when it comes to making supercars. McLaren has developed yet again a revolutionary supercar, an evolution of one of their most successful and ground-breaking supercars, 650s, the 2018 McLaren 720S.

This supercar that has the looks and the power to back it up. This is how you describe the new McLaren 720S in one sentence. Its name the “720” itself refers to the power output of its new 4.0-liter V-8 force-fed by turbochargers that spins up to 160,000 rpm. It makes 710 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque which is why this new supercar is not just about pure looks.

What makes the 720S even more unique are its aerodynamics. Kudos to McLaren engineers for thinking of clever ways to funnel air all over the body of the car to keep it stuck to the pavement. Although the 720S had its radiator ducts removed, McLaren says that new supercar is 15% cooler than the 650S.

Aside from that, the carbon fiber and aluminum body construction makes the car 40 pounds lighter that the 650S coupe. It is over 2,800 pounds lighter. With its prolific power and light weight body, the 720S can reach a 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 212mph.

As amazing as its speed is, the same can also be said about how the 720S corrals that speed and stops. Its new rear spoiler now creates 30% more downforce than the one on the 650S. It can also deploy its airbrake in just half a second, allowing the car to stop from 124mph in a short distance.

The 2018 McLaren 720S also features an advanced suspension which allows the supercar to be extremely flat and comfortable. It uses connected independent corners to keep the car stuck to the ground.

It would be no surprise if the 720S turns out to be a benchmark for all new and upcoming supercars. It is even shaping up to be a new breed for the English car maker since they definitely did a wonderful job in improving their first generation of supercars.

The 720S is expected to be available for sale in May with prices starting around $280,000.
