For several decades, Formula Atlanticโand Formula B before itโwas the top โtraining categoryโ for aspiring racing drivers in North America. It enjoyed national television coverage in Canada and drew drivers from all over the world to compete. Atlanicโs list of graduates is impressive, including the legendary Gilles Villeneuve, 1982 F1 World Champion Keke Rosberg, three-time Indycar champ and 1986 Indy 500 winner Bobby Rahal, and 1987 F1 champ Jacques Villeneuve to name butย four.
Now those seminal categories will be celebrated with a Reunion Weekend organized by Northern Californiaโs Classic Sports and Racing Group at Thunderhill Park near Willows, California, on the weekend of April 29โMay 1. All qualifying cars will be divided into three classes for any Formula B or Atlantic car built through 1986, with all Formula B cars in Class I, all flat-bottom Atlantic cars in Class II and all ground-effect Atlantic cars in Class III.
CSRG Is obviously hoping to attract a huge field of cars, and will add a special Race Group for Reunion cars if the entry list tops 20 cars. For more information please contact the CSRGโs Jon Norman at [email protected]
