Pacific Northwest Concours (2014) – Highlights

More than 150 of the finest vintage automobiles in theย U.S. converged upon LeMay โ€“ Americaโ€™s Car Museumย (ACM) September 6โ€“7 for the annual Pacific Northwestย Concours dโ€™Elegance.

โ€œThe Pacific Northwest Concours has become one of theย premier events of its kind in the U.S. since its founding 12ย years ago as the Kirkland Concours,โ€ said David Madeira,ย president of ACM. โ€œWith ACM being the largest car museumย in North America, sitting on a 3.5-acre show field, weโ€™reย delighted to host an event of such grand scale.โ€

Featured classes for the concours included early andย significant BMWs and Ford Mustangs, as well as flatheadย hot rods, โ€œAmerican tail fins,โ€ pre-WWII classics, pre-1920ย Brass Era cars and others. After judges scrutinized rows ofย cars on ACMโ€™s Haub Family Show Field, a 1928 Isottaย Fraschini Tipo SASS, owned by Peter Boyle of Covington,ย Ohio, emerged as โ€œBest of Show.โ€

โ€œThis Isotta is among the best of its breed,โ€ said Madeira.ย โ€œGiven the stiff competition, we recognize how well-earnedย this award is.โ€

During the weekend, ACM presented its annual โ€œMasterย Collector Awardโ€ on Peter Hageman, Al McEwan and Glennย Moungerโ€”all renowned members of the internationalย vintage vehicle collector community. In conjunction with theย award, the museum opened a year-long exhibit in theirย honor featuring vehicles from their collections, including aย 1926 Packard Model 236 Phaeton, 1930 Hispano Suiza H6Cย d’Ieteren Freres Transformable and 1932 Packard 903 Superย Eight, formerly owned by famous Navy aviator Rear Admiralย Richard Byrd.
