NASAโs Johnson Space Center will host Strada Corsa Houston on the weekend of May 5-7, 2017, when enthusiasts of all ages will be treated to 400 historic road racing cars competing in eight race groups on a 3.4-mile temporary road circuit on facilityโs main campus in Houston, Texas.
As the event is taking place on Cinco de Mayo weekend, it provided the perfect opportunity for Houstonโs Latin American community to celebrate the lives of brothers Pedro (above) and Ricardo Rodriguez de la Vega, who were Mexicoโs first motor racing superstars.
The talented brothers took national titles on motorcycles before turning their attention to four wheels in the 1950s. Their whirlwind years in both Formula One and World Sportscar Championship racing put motorsports on the map in Mexico. Although both were killed in their prime, the brothers Rodriguez inspired a new generation of Mexican racers and created an appetite for automobile racing in the country that remains to this day.
