Porsche Cayenne Coupé Electric

Porsche have just officially unveiled their all new Cayenne Coupé Electric.  The latest variant slots in alongside the existing gas-powered models, and now complements the already present SUV Electric platform. Crucially, this means that customers now have the choice between both the SUV and Coupé body styles should they want to go the electric route.

In their release, the company makes sure to boast about the Coupé’s design language, with its “911-derived roofline” serving as the fundamental distinction for their latest EV platform. Not only does this amalgamate the sleek silhouette of the iconic flagship sportscar, but it also reduces drag compared to the SUV. Perhaps most notably, this gives the Coupé an extra 18 km of range, bringing the total range up to 669 km on a full charge. Their new body style also allows for the implementation of an adaptive rear spoiler, further articulating the Coupé’s more sporty nature.

“The gently sloping roofline sweeps elegantly over the car’s broad shoulders and gives the Cayenne Coupé a particularly sporty appearance,” says Thomas Stopka, Head of Exterior Design, Style Porsche.

The Porsche Cayenne Coupé Electric will be launched in 3 trims, with a base model, an “S” trim and the quintessential “Turbo” making up the initial roster. Respectively, each Coupé variant produces 408 PS, 544 PS and 857 PS. Each model also comes standard with an “overboost” and Launch Control feature, temporarily upping max power to a whopping 1,156 PS for the Turbo. The current range-topping model is capable of completing 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 7.4 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 260 km/h.

Other features such as standard adaptive air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management also carry over from the SUV models, while Porsche Active Ride and rear-axle steering remain available as options. The Coupé can be further personalized with an optional Lightweight Sport package or Off-road package, which enhances the car’s road-going presence and off-road capabilities, respectively. When equipped with a towbar, a towing capacity of up to 3.5 tons is available. Cargo room is stated as 1,345L, with an additional 90L made available by the “frunk”. The latest version of the company’s 800-volt technology gives the Cayenne Coupé Electric charging speeds of up to 400 kW at DC fast chargers.
