A Highly Bespoke 2020 McLaren Senna GTR Crosses the Auction Block

One of just 75 examples produced

This 2020 McLaren Senna GTR represents the most extreme track-only car ever produced by McLaren and is slated to cross the block at RM Sotheby’s in Arizona on January 23, with an estimated value between $900,000 and $1.1 million.

Created as a tribute to Ayrton Senna and the spirit of the legendary F1 GTR, the Senna GTR was engineered without any concern for road use or racing class restrictions. Freed from those constraints, McLaren focused entirely on outright performance and aerodynamic efficiency.

Production was capped at just 75 examples, and this particular car is number 53. It is especially notable for its provenance, having remained in the hands of its original owner, a McLaren VIP client, and showing roughly 159 miles, at the time of cataloging. Finished in the striking McLaren Special Order Amethyst Black—an option costing $12,155—it is further distinguished by satin carbon fiber sill panels and gloss carbon fiber Aero Blade and canopy panels, adding $45,419 in factory options.

Power comes from a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged M840TR V8 producing 814 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. The output is achieved through freer-flowing exhaust plumbing, a dry-sump system, lightweight internal components, and low-inertia turbochargers. Performance is staggering, with 0–60 mph in under 2.8 seconds, 0–124 mph in under 6.8 seconds, and a top speed beyond 210 mph.

Aerodynamics are central to the GTR’s identity. Revised splitters, vortex generators, and a larger rear wing mounted higher and farther back generate more than 2,205 pounds of downforce at 155 mph—delivered at lower speeds than the roadgoing Senna without added drag. Active aero continuously adjusts for braking, cornering, and straight-line runs, enabling deceleration loads of up to 3.0 g.

The carbon-fiber Monocell III-R chassis is matched with a wider front track, fixed race suspension, forged wheels, and Pirelli slick tires. Inside, weight reduction is relentless, with plexiglass windows, exposed carbon panels, a racing harness, onboard data logging, and a car-to-pit radio. Even with its dedicated racing hardware, the Senna GTR tips the scales at just 2,619 pounds dry.
