1968 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 sold for $247,500

The Auctions America Auburn Spring 2016 sale was held May 5-7 at the Auburn Auction Park in Auburn, Indiana, resulting in $7,187,439 in total sales and an 80 percent sell-through rate of all lots sold. The results represent a 40 percent increase over 2015. Bidders hailed from 36 states across the U.S. and 12 countries around the world, with more than 30 percent representing first-time clients.

โ€œThe weather was certainly on our side for the Auburn Spring weekend, bringing record crowds and high energy across all three days of the event,โ€ said Megan Boyd, Car Specialist, Auctions America. โ€œWhile our Auburn venue is best known for great American classics and muscle, the top-selling Ferrari shows that, with quality product, our knowledgeable team of car specialists can successfully connect buyers and sellers across a broad variety of genres and categories.โ€

The top-seller of the 2016 Auctions America Auburn Spring event was a 1968 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 at $247,500. Two pony cars completed the top three, with a time-capsule 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 and a highly optioned 1968 Shelby GT 500 Fastback selling for $238,700 and $159,500, respectively.

To coincide with appearances from Wayne Carini of Velocityโ€™s Chasing Classic Cars, Auctions America presented two cars in support of Autism Research and Education โ€“ causes close to Cariniโ€™s heart. Together, a 1966 Dodge Monaco Two-Door Hardtop and a 2006 Ford Shelby Terlingua Mustang Coupe Tribute raised $20,900 to benefit of Autism Speaks and the Treasure Coast Autism Project. Additionally, Auctions America offered a Hot Wheels car on behalf of a 13 year-old, next generation collector named Liam, who was raising funds for the Friends of Kids with Cancer organization. Generous bidders paid $3,000 for the tiny toys, donating the cars back twice to raise a total of $9,000 for the cause, with additional funds contributed by Auburn Spring attendees throughout the weekend.

Auctions America continues its 2016 calendar of events with the companyโ€™s fourth annual Santa Monica auction, June 25-26, featuring approximately 300 vehicles.
