The McLaren P1 exemplified cutting-edge automotive engineering, boasting a carbon monocoque chassis weighing a mere 200 pounds and bodywork crafted entirely from lightweight carbon fiber. Its advanced carbon-ceramic brakes, developed in collaboration with Akebono and enhanced with silicon carbide, featured Brake Steer—a Formula One-derived system that applies inner-rear wheel braking to sharpen cornering.
At its heart is a mid-mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 paired with an electric motor that helps eliminate turbo lag and smooth out gear transitions. Combined, the powertrain produces an impressive 903 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, launching the P1 from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds and allowing it to reach a top speed of 217 mph.
Currently offered on Bring a Trailer is chassis number 47 out of the limited 375-unit production run. This particular car was originally sold through McLaren Newport Beach in Costa Mesa, California, and shows just 1,900 miles on the odometer.
Finished in striking Azure Blue with gloss carbon-fiber accents on the mirror caps and side coves, it sits on staggered 19″ front and 20″ rear aluminum-alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires. The interior features carbon-fiber bucket seats upholstered in Slate Grey leather with Stone Grey inserts and accented by Midnight Blue contrast stitching. The Slate Grey leather continues across the dashboard, while exposed carbon fiber adds a technical, performance-oriented aesthetic throughout the cabin.
Additional options on this example include carbon-ceramic brakes, electro-hydraulic rack-and-pinion steering, a 4.7-kWh lithium-ion battery, active aerodynamics with an extendable rear wing, dual-zone climate control, a navigation system, and a Meridian premium audio setup.
