Amelia Island Concours (2010) – The Best of Amelia Island

The 15th Amelia Island Concours dโ€™Elegance selected Best of Show winners in its two primary categories of Elegance and Sport on March 12โ€“14, with the former award taken by Sam and Emily Mannโ€™s 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster, and the latter going to Jonathan Feiberโ€™s 1960 Maserati Tipo 61.

The Mann Mercedes, resplendent in classic silver paint with blue leather interior, is thought to have once been consigned to Adolph Eichmann, and brought along a string of similar Best in Show honors at previous events around the country. Feiberโ€™s Birdcage Maserati was driven to victory in the 1960 Cuban Grand Prix in Havana by Stirling Moss, for entrant Lucky Casner and his Camoradi team.

In addition to honoring Mercedes-Benz as its featured marque, and highlighting โ€œCars of the Cuban Grand Prix,โ€ Amelia 2010 also paid tribute to Richard Petty as its Featured Guest, with a number of cars from โ€œThe Kingโ€™sโ€ career on display. The 40th Anniversary of Porscheโ€™s first victory at Le Mans was also celebrated with a collection of the marqueโ€™s iconic 917 model.
