The Bonhams Greenwich 2015 auction was held Sunday, May 31st at the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance in Connecticut, resulting in $7,710,262 in total sales and an 89 percent sell-through rate.

Held at the waterfront Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich, Bonhamsโ€™ 8th annual sale featured more than 90 automobiles and a wide-ranging selection of automobilia. Despite torrential rain over the weekend in Greenwich, the sale was well-attended and saw record prices made for several notable models.

โ€œWe are very pleased with the results,โ€ said Rupert Banner, Director of Business Development for Bonhams Motoring Department. โ€œOur sale proved once again that good quality offerings will always attract buyers and that the collector car market is strong and well.โ€

The top result at Bonhams’ 2015 Greenwich auction went to the 1938 Bugatti Type 57C Stelvio Cabriolet, which achieved a new world auction record for a Stelvio when it sold for $1,595,000. Another European car from the same year, the 1938 Mercedes-Benz 320 Long Wheel-Base Kombination Roadster, also set a new world auction record for the model when it was bought by a private American collector for $825,000.

Demonstrating the rising interest and values for Porsches, the selection of models offered by Bonhams brought strong prices. A 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Touring made $594,000, while a 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa 2.7 achieved a new model record at $85,250.

The British sports cars from the Geoffrey Howard Collection were 100 percent sold with the SS ‘project’ models taking the spotlight. The 1938 Jaguar SS100 2.5 Liter Roadster sold for $231,000 while its predecessor, the 1935 SS90 Roadster, made $214,500.
