The Bonhams Greenwich 2016 auction was held Sunday, June 5th at the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance in Connecticut, resulting in $5,390,275 in total sales and an 80 percent sell-through rate. Held at the waterfront Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich, Bonhams’ 9th annual sale featured more than 100 automobiles and a wide-ranging selection of automobilia.
“Our sale was strong and consistent this year,” said Eric Minoff, Bonhams Motoring Dept. Specialist. “Good, desirable classics fresh to market sold really well and interest from international bidders continues to grow. It was a pleasure to support the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance and the Wennerstrom family, who continue this popular event founded by Bruce and Genia Wennerstrom.”
The top result at the 2016 Bonhams Greenwich Concours auction went to the 113-mile 2005 Ford GT that sold for $291,500. The time-warp 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350 was a highlight when it exceeded its estimate and sold to an American collector for $159,500, while a quirky 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL with matching Mini Tears Teardrop Trailer made $192,500. Other notable results included the 1950 Tatra T87 that achieved $137,500 a 1986 Ferrari Testarossa that was bought for $173,800.
