OM

OM (Officine Meccaniche), an Italian automobile manufacturer founded in 1917, is celebrated for its contributions to the early automotive and commercial vehicle industries. Initially focused on producing military trucks and vehicles, OM quickly transitioned to civilian car manufacturing after World War I. The company gained recognition for its high-quality engineering and robust design, producing a range of cars that were both reliable and elegant. One of the most notable models was the OM 665 Superba, which achieved significant success in motorsport, including a class victory in the 1927 Mille Miglia. OM cars were known for their advanced engineering features, such as overhead camshaft engines and solid construction. Despite their early successes, OM eventually shifted focus back to commercial vehicles and was absorbed by Fiat in 1938. Today, OM’s legacy lives on through its pioneering efforts in the automotive industry and its contributions to Italy’s rich motoring heritage.
