Panther

Panther Westwinds, a British car manufacturer, gained prominence in the 1970s with its unique and luxurious vehicles, most notably the Panther DeVille. Founded by Robert Jankel in 1972, Panther specialized in creating bespoke cars that blended classic styling with modern engineering. The Panther DeVille, introduced in 1974, epitomized the company’s ethos, featuring a distinctive neo-classical design inspired by the pre-war era coupled with modern mechanicals from Jaguar. With its lavish interiors, handcrafted bodywork, and powerful Jaguar engines, the DeVille became a symbol of opulence and exclusivity, favored by celebrities and affluent clientele. Despite its relatively low production numbers and high price tag, the Panther DeVille garnered attention worldwide and remains an iconic representation of British automotive eccentricity from the 1970s. Panther’s commitment to craftsmanship and individuality solidified its place in automotive history, showcasing the possibilities of bespoke car manufacturing in an era dominated by mass production.
