Sparks-Thorne

Sparks-Thorne was a notable name in the early American racing scene, synonymous with innovation and high performance. Founded by driver and car builder Art Sparks and entrepreneur Joel Thorne in the 1930s, Sparks-Thorne cars were renowned for their cutting-edge engineering and dominance in motorsports, particularly at the Indianapolis 500. These vehicles featured advanced technologies for their time, such as custom-built, high-compression engines and lightweight, aerodynamic designs, which gave them a competitive edge on the racetrack. The collaboration between Sparks and Thorne resulted in numerous victories and record-breaking performances, cementing their legacy in racing history. Although their partnership was relatively short-lived, Sparks-Thorne cars left an indelible mark on the world of auto racing, remembered for pushing the boundaries of speed and innovation.
