On March 14, 1957, promising Ferrari driver and 1956 Mille Miglia winner Eugenio Castellotti was killed while testing a Ferrari F1 single-seater at the Modena Autodrome.
On March 14, 2002 โ 45 years to the day after his fatal accident โ a bust of Castellotti was unveiled at the entrance to the driverโs hometown of Lodi in northern Italy. This tribute, combined with a recently released biography titled โCastellotti: a Broken Heartโ by author Cesare De Agostini, should begin to give Castellotti some of the recognition he so richly deserves.
