Historic Grand Prix Returns to USGP at Indy

For the second year, the Historic Grand Prix (HGP) organization took to the track as a support event for the 2001 United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis.

This year, 26 three-liter Grand Prix cars built between 1967 and 1980 took to the track for two days of high-speed demonstration runs. Among the many significant cars taking part were the ex-Gurney Eagle TG104 (see article below), driven by Phil Reilly, the ex-Mark Donohue Penske PC1, driven by Donohueโ€™s son Mark, as well as the Tyrrell 002, driven by John Delane which Francois Cevert drove to victory in the United States Grand Prix at Watkins Glen in 1971.
