Historic Formula Atlantic Association

Former Formula Atlantic champion Bill Brack (1974โ€“1975) has announced the formation of a new Historic Formula Atlantic Association, which will be devoted to organizing historic Atlantic support races in conjunction with modern professional racing events.

According to Brack, โ€œThere are enough vintage race organizations in North America already holding races for Formula Atlantic cars, and we are not interested in organizing any races that would take place at vintage events that would detract from any of those organizations. We would be more interested in taking historic and vintage Formula Atlantic cars to contemporary race venuesโ€”such as Trois-Rivieresโ€”where the race fans are more likely to see the cars run for the first timeโ€

In fact, Brackโ€™s newly formed group has been invited to hold its inaugural event at this yearโ€™s Grand Prix du Trois-Rivieres on August 1st. Long known for being a springboard for up-and-coming Atlantic stars like Gilles Villeneuve, Bobby Rahal, Keke Rosberg and Danny Sullivan, the Historic Atlantic field will share this yearโ€™s Grand Prix du Trois-Rivieres schedule with professional Formula Ford and Trans-Am races.

When asked about some of his other plans for the new group, Brack responded, โ€œIt is our intention to create a Formula Atlantic car registry, a Web site that would have car and driver biographies, as well as an area for member input, old newspaper and magazine articles, a photograph gallery and, hopefully, someday an archive for memorabilia.โ€
