Hopkirk New BRDC President

Champion rally driver Paddy Hopkirk MBE (above, Jakob Ebrey photo courtesy of BRDC) was elected president of the British Racing Drivers Club at the clubโ€™s recent Annual General Meeting at Silverstone, following Derek Warwickโ€™s decision not to stand for re-election. Outgoing president Warwick received a standing ovation from the membership in recognition of all he has done for the Club during the last 10 years, and was then elected as a vice president.

Hopkirk, a BRDC Member since 1965, is well known both within and outside the club having served as a director of the club for nine years and been a vice president since 2006. Although best known for his rallying exploits โ€” including wins on the Monte Carlo, Alpine, Acropolis and Austrian Alpine rallies โ€” he was elected a BRDC Member based solely on his racing successes, which included class wins at Le Mans, Sebring, the Targa Florio and several other major endurance races.
